Collection: Chalice

Chalice corals are the crown jewels of the reef world. Showing off their vibrant colors and unique patterns that can make any aquarium pop. These large polyp stony (LPS) corals make a good choice for any saltwater tank - whether you’re experienced or just starting out, these guys are an easy beauty to take care of.

Why Choose Chalice Corals?

Chalice corals stand out for several reasons:

  • Eye-catching Looks: Sporting hues from blues and purples to pinks and oranges, these corals' vivid colors and unique patterns can transform your aquarium into a living work of art.
  • Wide Range of Types: The term "chalice coral" covers many different groups, including Echinopora, Oxypora, and Mycedium, each boasting its own distinct forms and surfaces.
  • Moderate Care Level: Though preferring to have conditions remain static, most chalice corals are generally resilient and can thrive within most aquarium situations.

Caring for Your Chalice Corals

To keep your chalice corals healthy and vibrant:

  • Lighting: These corals do well in low to medium light. Start by placing them in shady spots in your tank. You can move them around later to see how they react.
  • Water Flow: Go for a medium flow. This keeps dirt from piling up on them but doesn't hurt their tissue.
  • Feeding: The sun gives them most of their food. But it helps to feed them tiny meaty snacks now and then. Try brine shrimp or mysis shrimp when they eat at night.
  • Water Levels: Keep things steady. Aim for calcium at 400 ppm, alkalinity between 8-12 dKH, and magnesium at 1250-1350 ppm.

Remember, chalice corals can be aggressive toward neighboring corals due to their sweeper tentacles. Ensure they have ample space to prevent conflicts.
