The juvenile Creole Wrasse (Clepticus parrae) is a lively, colorful wrasse that brings striking Caribbean reef energy to larger saltwater aquariums. In its juvenile phase, this fish typically displays a rich violet‑purple to lavender body with subtle patterning and sometimes light accents along the belly and fins, creating a vivid contrast that makes it stand out in motion.
Native to reefs throughout the Caribbean, Gulf of Mexico, and western Atlantic, juvenile Creole Wrasses are naturally schooling fish that thrive in open water with plenty of room to swim. In the aquarium, they do best in tanks with ample open swimming space and a few rock structures for shelter. They are generally peaceful and energetic, bringing constant movement as they explore and forage.
This species is considered reef safe, and juveniles typically leave corals and most invertebrates unharmed. Their diet should include a variety of small meaty foods such as frozen mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and finely chopped seafood; along with quality prepared diets to keep them healthy and colorful. Once established, juvenile Creole Wrasses are engaging, high‑energy fish that add lively behavior and a bold splash of color to larger community aquariums.
