Tank Raised Seahorse
The Lined Seahorse, Hippocampus erectus, is considered by many hobbyists to be the most attractive of all the seahorses. These are young and the size is about 2-3 inches. The coloration of these tank raised seahorses range from shades of black, to gray to brown. Their coloration may change in the aquarium, and is highly dependent on the colors of its environment. As they mature and become ready to mate the male lined seahorse will dance around, show off his pouch and may have color changes. If the female is interested they will tangle tails and dance as she deposits up to 600 eggs in his pouch. It usually takes about 2 weeks then the male will birth as many 50 to 400 babies.
Our tank raised seahorses are used to living in an aquarium which makes the transition to your tank much easier. Our captive bred seahorses eat frozen brine shrimp and Hikari Mysis Shrimp- they have been trained already. The brine shrimp are gut loaded with a product called SELCO BOOST. It has omega 3 and multiple vitamins along with an appetite stimulant. I suggest having a bottle of this available when they arrive. Add an extra squirt to the shrimp as they thaw out to help jump start them feeding in their new home.
